I think the school has been excellent in general. It has been a great time to meet researchers and to learn of mathematica. Maybe we should have a 10 days school rather than two weeks, because is very intense.

Very well organized. Might be the best school I ever attended. Only complaint I have is that the number of exercises were to many. No chance they all could be completed in time.

If Wolfram could implement a better non commutative function it would be great. For example, I work a lot with sigma models where some of the coordinates are Fermionic. While there are packages that can handle Grassmann valued functions, they are not optimal and it would be better if this could be implemented from scratch. Generally, it would be nice if there were some easy way to assign something as operator valued, meaning Mathematica doesn't try to commute it. Gromov gave a great example how to do this on your own, but again, I feel this could very well be implemented as a function. Per Sundin

The school was very well structured. Theory lectures in the morning and applications/problem solving in the afternoon was a very good combination. Perhaps one thing that could improve the school would be a hands-on introduction to mathematica. For example, there could be one or two lectures introducing mathematica where the participants are also executing commands themselves. The pace of the mathematica introduction lectures in this school was difficult to keep up with. More hands-on lectures would help to give students a basic working knowledge of mathematica. Perhaps there could even be one of these lectures and one less lecture on advanced mathematica. The theory lectures were of very high quality. The speakers were approachable and always willing to help. I, as a student, learned more physics than mathematica.

Well I learnt a lot. Right now I am just beginning to study Supersymmetry and String Theory so I got lost in some points but I saw that the speakers made an effort to make the topics very accessible to everyone...so that is something I appreciate. I don't know if it is technicaly a problem but I would have appreciate If the videos of the lectures would have been online quicker to review some difficult points the same day. Thank you

LaTeX is the de facto standard for scientific articles and publications. It is also stable and probably here to stay. There is no reason not to fully support it. Indexed object manipulation, and support for Einstein's summation convention, would be greatly beneficial for the Physics (and maybe the Engineering) community. If not in the Mathematica core, it should probably be available as an official package. An "undo" function that works (even slightly!) would make the world a better place.

I think the school was really nice! I came with (almost) no experience in Mathematica nor Integrability, and by now I can say that I've learned a lot. As for the problem-solving sessions, the organisers decided to split the students according to their nationality (Brazilians or non-Brazilians), perhaps as a way to encourage interaction. However, I think it would work better if the splitting were made with respect to their knowledge of Mathematica and/or the subjects covered in the physics lectures.

I would like to see a more object oriented approach to building packages, i.e. making everything pure functions with loads of arguments (even if they have default values) can quickly become cumbersome. Being able to pack things in object would be nice (e.g. a spin chain object that has properties length, number of excitations, etc. so that you wouldn't have to calculate them each time). Second feature request: undo

I felt real improve in my Physics and Mathematica skills. I was very motivated to do all the works in the afternoon section (although I couldn't do all) in part because the lecturers were very supporting and helpful. The exercises were well prepared so that I learned a lot following them and I appreciate the dedication of all lecturers that showed real interest in helping us understand the subject.

It would be great if Mathematica was more user-friendly. I'm not talking about fonts, visualization, different colors of text and so one, I'm talking about Help. It would be magnificent, if the student, firstly seeing Mathematica, was able to do all things, which we have studied, just reading Help. I mean, in Help should be not only describing of commands, but also syntax, short commands and possible errors. Thank you for attention.

Overally, I'd say the school was rather balanced, speaking of lecture/problem solving proportionality. However, I found it nearly impossible to catch up with all the material on the afternoon session, specifically, since I really liked the physics problems, I skipped too large of a part of Mathematica problems, which at the end seemed to be a great drawback. Perhaps, problem-wise, the Mathematica part should be made somewhat obligatory, or at least really encouraged,and the number of physical tasks reduced, so that it would be more realistic to solve Mathematica problems AND a good deal of physical problems during the session.

It would be beneficial to have more advanced Mathematica material since access to that information is somewhat limited (some of the material in the Mathematica lectures is undocumented anywhere). Lectures should not rely on doing the exercises since one does not have time to do the exercises on all the topics. Other than that it was fine.

Right now I wish that Series could act on a matrix where each entry is a function, so that the series coefficients would be also matrix-valued. In the current implementation, Series expands each entry individually, so it outputs a matrix where each entry is a series. So, one has to construct a function that collect powers from each matrix entry, and then build matrix-valued coefficients by hand. - Ctrl+Z has too little memory. - In Windows, when one is working in Mathematica, then switches to using the internet browser (Chrome), and goes back to Mathematica, the Mathematica cursor becomes invisible. I've seen this in different computers, so I know it's not an issue in my computer only. - When one highlights a matrix, some of the entries become blank (especially in the lower line).

My general opinion is excellent. This is based on: 1- The quality of the lectures, which have been of appropriate level, length, content and clarity. 2- The leading expertise of the lecturers, their clear expositions, plus the fact that they have received very well and answered lots of questions, which has been very useful. 3- The excellent combination and selection of the topics exposed by each lecturer, plus the fact that it has been a very well balaced correlation among different themes treated by different speakers. This is very important in order to concentrate on a difficult frontier reasearch area in a two-week specialized school. 4- Particularly important have been the afternoon-problem sessions, and I appreciate very much the fact that there were five hours each day to work on problems closely related to the ideas presented in the morning lectures.

I find somehow obscure the way Mathematica deals with numerical resolution of a given set of differential equations using NDSolve[]. Sometimes it happens that given two ODEs, by recasting them and applying again NDSOve[] to them, one obtains different numerical solutions in comparison with the ones obtained by applying NDSolve[] to the initial ODE set. It is not clear to me whether it has to do with the stability of the Mathematica algorithm for numerically solving ODEs, or with any other issue (related to Mathematica). In that sense I think that it would be very useful for many researchers and students to have a simpler way to test about what Mathematica is doing when solving numerically a particular set of ODE. Surely it must be a way to tell Mathematica how to choose a certain solution and exclude others when there is a branching point, singularity, discontinuity, etc. Another thing should be to improve LaTeX input/output functionality of Mathematica, particularly to have a simple way to write expressions in LaTeX which can be read by Mathematica, either by typing them on the Mathematica cell (ideally) and/or by a command like Import[] or something similar.

The school was, in general, pretty good, but some of the speakers were explaining to fast to many things, so it was really hard to follow all of the talks. Also some of the lectures were too specific and assumed many previous knowledge that weren't known for many of us (not just me, I would say more than a half of the people I spoke to), maybe a review of some topics would make some talks clearer. The Mathematica lectures (the two final Jason and all of Gromov) were too fast/advanced and I could not follow most of it. The best part is that I learned a lot of mathematica, and there were many opportunities to ask (even very stupid) questions to the speakers, and that made some topics more accessible.

I think the afternoon sessions is an excellent initiative that makes this school stand out from the rest of schools in the field. The level of the speakers was also great. I particularly like Korchemsky's lectures a lot.

I have two suggestions that I would like to see in the mathematica 1) I would like a lot if were possible to open more tabs on "find selected function". I think this could help a lot the people who learn to use mathematica by yourself. 2) There is a test that can check the necessary condition of integrability for a differential equation, called Painlevé test. A algorithim can be found in "J. of Nonl. Math. Phys., vol 13, 1 (2006), 90-110", but this algorithim is for a old version of mathematica and also can be generalized to a perturbative test (see "Physica D 69 (1993), 33-58").

The school was nice, except I found the mathematica session so fast and the organizers thought all the participants has a good knowledge in Mathematica. It would be better if they start step by step from zero level (they actually tried but it was a bit fast).

I could only criticize the fact that the lecturers didn't suggest the corresponding literature during their explanations.

I agree with the need of harmonic polylogarithms. In this sense I would like to mention generalized hypergeometric functions (they are defined in mathematica but mathematica knows very few things about how to handle them) and also many of the series containing harmonic numbers such as those needed for harmonic polylogarithms. I would like to mention the lack of multiple level "Undo", absent in Mathematica. As Pedro said in the school, Wolfram has not still realized how important latex is for our community.

Housing and staff was very goog. I would have liked to have more suggestions from the local organizers on where to eat in the nearby area of Blair house residence. The people from the residence didn't speak english so it was difficult to understand their suggestions.

I found it a very good school. It is very well prepared in the sense that, at least from what I saw during the first week, the exercises are intimatelately related to what is being taught at the lectures and vice-verse. I found that the problem-solving sessions were extremely important, in order to keep track of the material which is being taught by the lecturers.

In analogy to what Georgios Papathanasiou commented, I think that another important tool that we be nice to have in the core of Mathematica, is Harmonic Sums, implemented with their properties (they form an Algebra) and with their know values at n=infinity. I have met them a lot in String theory scattering amplitudes, when finding their alpha' expansion. Harmonic Sums are intimately related to Harmonic Polylogarithms.
