IUPAP Executive Committee and Commission Chairs Meeting

ICTP-SAIFR is hosting IUPAP Executive Committee and Commission Chairs Meeting 2026 from October 26 to 29, 2026, at Instituto Principia, in São Paulo, Brazil.

The meeting will bring together members of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) Executive Committee and Chairs of its Commissions for discussions on the Union’s activities, initiatives, and priorities, as well as on the development and advancement of physics worldwide.

About IUPAP

The International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) is the only international scientific union covering all areas of physics. Established in 1922, IUPAP is organized and run by the physics community, with members representing physics communities in countries and regions around the world. Its mission is to assist in the worldwide development of physics, foster international cooperation, and promote the application of physics to help address problems of concern to humanity.

IUPAP advances these goals by supporting international conferences and meetings, encouraging research and education, promoting the free circulation of scientists, fostering inclusion and diversity in physics, and facilitating cooperation among physicists and with other scientific communities. The Union also promotes international agreements on symbols, units, nomenclature, and standards, and supports scientists at different stages of their careers through awards and other initiatives.
