ICTP-SAIFR Science Journalism Fellowships 2025
The ICTP South American Institute for Fundamental Research (ICTP-SAIFR) is pleased to announce the opening of FAPESP Science Journalism Fellowships at levels JC II and JC IV. The selected candidates will be responsible for writing articles and press releases about ICTP-SAIFR activities in both English and Portuguese, for publication in newspapers, online platforms, and social media (Instagram, Twitter/X, etc.).
The fellowships, funded by FAPESP (www.fapesp.br/47), have an initial duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension for up to 24 months. For JC II, the monthly stipend is R$3,270.00 (tax-free) and the candidates must have a bachelor’s degree. For JC IV, the monthly stipend is R$12,570.00 (tax-free) and the candidates must have a PhD.
Application requirements:
Applicants should submit their CV, respond to a short questionnaire, and provide the following materials:
- A two-page article (800–1200 words) for a general audience on the SIRIUS synchrotron light source, written in Portuguese and translated into English.
- An instagram post (text and design) in Portuguese that advertises the “Ciência no Cinema” program with the upcoming presentation of the film Oppenheimer followed by a discussion with a physicist.
