Eduardo Pontón Memorial Symposium

Monday October 28, 2019

São Paulo, Brazil

After courageously battling for two years an auto-immune illness during which he continued to perform research and mentor students, ICTP-SAIFR faculty member Eduardo Pontón passed away on June 13 in the presence of family and friends. Eduardo was born in Bogotá in 1971 and, after a professorship in Columbia University in New York from 2004-2012, came to ICTP-SAIFR in 2013 as our first faculty hiring. His research involving particle physics beyond the Standard Model continues to have a large impact, and the clarity of his lectures was universally admired.

In honor of Eduardo’s important contributions both in teaching and research, ICTP-SAIFR will organize the Eduardo Pontón Memorial Symposium on Monday October 28. His presence will be greatly missed and friends can leave comments on their interactions with Eduardo at this site

There is no need to register for the memorial symposium and everyone is welcome to participate. But if you would like to present a research talk or give a short presentation on your interactions with Eduardo, please fill out this form before October 13.

Program: More information will be available here soon.
